The PDTN has developed into a support network for anyone involved as a practitioner within police training.

The first PDTN event was organised in 1999 by PC Richard Martin of Nottinghamshire Constabulary.

It took place at Nottinghamshire Constabulary Training Centre and 16 delegates attended from surrounding police organsiations.  Since this date networking events have taken place bi-annually.

The aims of the PDTN are:

·         To provide moral and practical support to trainers working in the field of police training.

·         To allow the exchange of information and good practice and topical updates.

·         To provide trainers and managers with the opportunity to meet and network with other trainers and managers involved in this field.

·         To maintain and develop links with the NPIA and other relevant organisations.

·         To encourage the involvement of new and established trainers involved in the management of police training
